If you have followed the Instagram page for a while, you know that I used to make more reels.

Nowadays, I don't really do that anymore.

One reason is that I don’t enjoy editing videos.

So I just kind of stopped doing it.

But sometimes I miss it. Not the process, but the output.

Some of the reels are genuinely interesting to watch and educational at the same time.

So I was thinking for a while whether or not I should make videos again.

But I really don't want to edit.

Hmm.

What do developers do when we need to do something repetitive and boring?

We automate it.

But how exactly do you automate making a video?

Nope. Not AI. I tried it. It sucks.

The thing is, I'm not usually creating a video from zero.

These days I usually start with an article (you've probably got some of them as emails).

And there are graphics and code to it already.

What I used to do is turn those graphics into a video manually.

I have to

  1. Copy all the assets from Figma to a presentation tool (Yes, a tool you use to make PowerPoint)

  2. Do all the animation there

  3. And finally export to a video editing tool and edit again

None of this is fun.

What if I could automate that?

So I'm starting a new project.

The goal is to turn assets like these:

Into a video that

  1. Has a similar style to my previous videos

  2. Requires as little manual input as possible from me

  3. Is reasonably educational and interesting to watch

Expect more updates later (if this email gets an overall positive response).
